Identifying an Original 1972 truck gas tank

I would like to find an original 1972 gas tank for my truck. I believe the filler neck is smaller in diameter correct? Is there anything else to look for when trying to identify one?

Ours was replaced years ago with one from a 1970 I believe.

Thanks in advance,
Ray

It should have a 1.5" diam fuel neck and a Fuel vapor return line. the earlier ones had the vapor line tied into the neck and 2" neck if I remember correct.

71-72 gastanks both had the extra fitting to vent to the hiloop in the pass door post that went to the charcoal cannister

I know my truck has the return line as it is still in the cab.

Thanks,
Ray

Re: Identifying an Original 1972 truck gas tank

My truck does have the return line as it is still in the cab and plugged down by the fuel pump.

I am on the look out for clean 72 Gas tank.

Thanks,
Ray
