Re: My 1966 stepside build..............slowly coming together.
Man, I am going to have to look at how I put mine on now . Didn't notice that there was a difference between them when I put all 4 new ones on.

Re: My 1966 stepside build..............slowly coming together.
Sucess, the beast is running. My wiring situation was very complicated.Alot of old stuff just looking for a wire fire to happen.
I had i guy with excellent knowledge in current, trouble shooting. I will upload my pics tommorow ,but she fired up right away there is the common header leak to sort out and a good tuneup. but she will run and move on her own. There is not a better feeling than this other than your warm woman on a cold night.

Re: My 1966 stepside build..............slowly coming together.
Here are the pics.all the battery cables are heavy duty cable. All new wiring was run for the engine harness.all connections were soldered and wrapped. This is a part of the build i had someone
come in to do for me.On my ride there was alot of wiring running around from the previous po.Everything has been cleaned up under the hood.Engine fired up oil pressure came right up.Thats the part that freaks you out. This is my first engine build in 20 years.I have to change the throttle linkage a bit and start hunting down the exhaust leak. Most likely from the headers but could be coming from where the header meets the lake pipes. And damm those lake pipes sound good.Last step once i make sure all the little leaks are taken care of engine will need to be set up.So that it runs abit more smoothly. But it is a great feeling to get to this step. Now i can move this thing around a bit let it see the light of day.So there is my progress.

Re: My 1966 stepside build..............slowly coming together.
Finally she runs like a champ, there a few problems to iron out.First problem that came up was the timing was way off and the truck ran like a tank.turned out the the distrubutor was very worn so it was either rebuild it or replace it.The better deal was to replace it with a new high performance hei that helped.Second problem when i was rebuilding the engine the rocker arms were a little to tight. So the valves weren't opening properly.luckily i didn't pump up the lifters just did a pre lube.Or i would have bent the pushrods. With all that sorted out it starts up right away runs nice and smooth.Took it down the block still needs alot of work to finish but it was a excellent feeling running the truck yippee its alive.
