Question 4wd vs 2wd steering box

Want this but it says 4wd applications. Didn't 4wd trucks just have different pitman arms? I don't see why agr would make a 12 ratio for 4wd vehicles and not 2wd

Re: 4wd vs 2wd steering box

how the arms mount are different too. 2wd have the nut in the middle clamping the arm down. 4wd have a bolt through the side of the pitman arm. you could open it up and swap the shalfs, but if you spend that much I wouldn't want to crack it open, lol

Re: 4wd vs 2wd steering box

Doesn't the 2WD steering cross over and connect to the passenger side wheel? while the 4wd version connects to the driver-side wheel. I have a 4WD, but I know that the aftermarket crossover steering kits require you to swap to a 2WD steering box because of the way the pitman arm mounts.

Re: 4wd vs 2wd steering box

4wd box the Pittman arm can only go on one way. 2wd box has a nut on the end of the shaft to lock the arm on as the arm is tapered. Im pretty sure the 2wd arm can be clocked.

Re: 4wd vs 2wd steering box

I've taken all the guts from a cracked 4wd box and put them in a 2wd box, just my .02

Just thought of something, if that's a quick ratio box the gears in it are likely different and stock parts probably wouldn't work.
