Custom Comfort Option aka. Deluxe Seat
Do we have enough ORIGINAL fabric seat trucks representing 1960,61,62,63,64,65,66 Chevrolet and GMC to create a reference thread? I'd like to see the changes and similarities between the years.
1963 The Vinyl was known as Haircell. Tiny indentations randomly scattered. I have a friend that works for a welll known clothing designer, she says she can have an original fabric or picture of, digitally copied to a new fabric. Though not original, it would make a nice seat cover. Course how much it would cost, is pending. |

Re: Custom Comfort Option aka. Deluxe Seat
Do the Burbs and the trucks share the same fabric. Do you want pics from the Burbs?

Re: Custom Comfort Option aka. Deluxe Seat
OK I may actually be able to help with this topic. Prior to Hurricane Katrina I bought parts truck that had the delux package, most stuff was ok the seat however was in perfect condition I removed it and took pictures of the seat at my friends house (2 months before the strom - go figure!
You can see the pictures of it here. I cut and pasted some in this reply.

Re: Custom Comfort Option aka. Deluxe Seat
As far as I know Suburbans had the same fabric and patterns as pickups. below are two examples of '62, two of '65, and one from '66 (in that order). I think '64 and '65 might be the same.
Oh, and Jake- never seen those seats before. Are they GMC? To the best of my knowledge Chevrolet had fabric inserts on all the deluxe seats. |

Re: Custom Comfort Option aka. Deluxe Seat
OEM4ME,
Yes those came out of a 60-61 GMC. I actually saved a piece of the material, cleaned it and have it stored. A company in California has the pattern, there was a thread about it years ago.

Re: Custom Comfort Option aka. Deluxe Seat
An optional seatcover that would go over the original seat in 63. Not a great detail but gives you an idea.

Re: Custom Comfort Option aka. Deluxe Seat
Look what I found under the blue vinyl seat cover in my '63. The lining of the seat cover is stuck to the original seat, but believe me, it looks just like the brochure that aerotruck63 posted at the top of this thread. Any idea where I can find some repro fabric and restore?

fyi, both SMS Auto Fabrics and Original Auto have matching fabrics for the 1963 Custom Comfort Deluxe Seat pictured at the top of this thread. The SMS is reproduction. The Original Auto is NOS.
