gas caps

i tried searching but couldnt find an answer to this, but anyway i got a new to me gas tank that i found on craigslist that came with the wrong sending unit and no gas cap. from the top of the old sender it looks like a 72 with an auto tranny(matching it up to catalog pics) but my old gas cap doesnt fit it which is from my 71 k10.

is it jsut bent in a way that i cant see or do i need a different cap, if so from what truck? just dont know if its a 72 things or a c20/30 thing.

Re: gas caps

The 71/72 tanks have the smaller diameter hole for the gas cap. The 67-70 have the opening that is larger. So you need to purchase the cap that fits the aplication you have. Remember these trucks have 40 years of history, so anyone at anytime could have changed the tanks. WES
