Tell me what you think, please....
Hey you guys tell me if I am in over my head.....
This is what I plan on doing this weekend coming up...... 1. Change out Timing chain and gears 2. Change out Oil Pan 3. Change out Valve Covers 4. Change out Carbs 5. Change out Fuel Filters 6. Change Oil and Oil Filter 7. Time the Engine Yall dont think thats to much for one weekend do you? Think it will make any kind of difference in performance? Probably just with the Carb huh? Thanks all for any input...

if your doing the gears ....do the cam and lifters...thats where u will get the most....out of your engine

a weekend is more than enough time
why you have the oil pan off you should put on a new oil pump and screen, just to be safe

you doing this in the truck or pulling the motor to do this job? personally id pull the motor out cause you gotta lift it up for the oil pan so pull it paint it clean it and detail the motor compartment while youre at it start early sat am and youll finish late sun afternoon

You don't have to lift the motor to pull the oil pan. There is plenty of room to get it out.

ive not tried doin an oil pan in our trucks yet, but with the 4.3 in my 86 dont look like it would work too easy without lifting the motor and at least sticking a couple blocks under the motor mounts

I recently pulled my pan on my 305. Lots of room without pulling the engine.
If you were me, I would estimate the work to take two months. You can probably do it in a weekend just fine... Slonaker |
