It's alright, the truck is something he's interested in buying not selling.

If I were in the market I'd buy it. Based on the pictures it looks solid.

That looks like a good price for a BB with a decent body. It is strange that the cam went bad at 2000 miles if the engine was rebuilt. I guessing they didn't break in the CAM properly. If your buying it for the BB I would double check to make sure the 402 was rebuildable.

Good luck

I'd buy that thing in a heartbeat, just from lookin' at one picture...

I lightened the picture up a little so it's easier to see the details.

Re: craigslist truck

The 402 should be rebuildable, but will have to be thorougly gone thru by a professional to check for metal shaving damages in the bearing journals. If you can handle the cost of the overhaul, almost anything can be made to run nicely again.

I just picked up my completely overhauled 396BB from my machine shop and the total cost for the upgrades and repairs I had done was expensive, but that was my choice.

The truck in the picture is nice and the body appears to be worth the price. If you don't want to worry about the cost of overhauling/repairing the 402 you could always locate a nice 454 and sub it in place.

Assuming the motor isnt a boat anchor, that looks like a great deal to me. Heck, if the body is nice, then its a steal.

Re: craigslist truck

The engine is gonna need a complete teardown and rebuild. Said the cam wiped out. If it was running it would be worth more than the asking price. But with the engine in need of an overhaul to get all the metal out of it from a wiped out cam... you'll be in it for another hit to your wallet.

Something to think about guys... I bought a nice '70 pretty reasonable that the owner said had a bad cam. It did run but really rough and backfired through the carb. When I got it home and checked it out it had two rocker studs pulled out of the head, #1 intake and #6 intake. I replaced #1 and double nutted #6 and drove it back in. I'm still driving it two years later and it runs like a champ... It depends on who determined the cam was bad and how much they really know about trouble shooting. All I'm saying is don't jerk an engine out and overhaul it or scrap it just because someone says it's bad. If you can, do the trouble shooting yourself and come to your own conclusions.

If the sheetmetal is as nice and rust free as it looks that truck is worth a lot more than the asking price with NO engine or trans.
