Re: sway bars on the 57 truck
This is going to be interesting! I have a 52 GMC and I cheated on on the sway bars my front is 70s Camaro and my rear is 76 monty carlo both bars bolted up with no modification at all. I am still trying to figure out how that happened

Re: sway bars on the 57 truck
That happens alot, I am convinced that GM had some sharp gear head engineers that actually thought about stuff like that and the standard of design was consistant thru the model years (no need to keep reinventing the wheel, so to speak).

Re: sway bars on the 57 truck
I used a bar from an early 80's K10 Blazer when I built my truck in 93. I welded tubes to the upper plates on the springs then bolted through those, and I used 1/2" bolts attached to the frame to hold the U brackets. Part of the bar at the RH leaf spring will contact the frame on large bumps but that could be fixed by moving the mounts toward the driver's side slightly.
I'll be removing that bar though to install an OEM one. I also have a bar from a 68 Chevy van. The shocks on the van bolt though the axle and the bar end attaches there. A guy could build a bracket to attach the end links. I believe this bar would pretty effective because the attachment point maybe 2-3 inches from the wheels. If I'm not happy with the original bar I'm going to try this one. |

Re: sway bars on the 57 truck
I agree with that 100%! I got lucky on the rear sway bar ,It mounts to the lower control arms and and has no frame mounts that is part of my swap that is one reason that I went the way I did. I also got a 1.25 front bar from a firebird at pick and pull.
