Sorry I still owe you the pic of the manual column...putting a reminder for when I am in the garage tomorrow.

What is funny is the truck version is $25 more money and has smaller tube sizes. Go figure.

The 2" tubes on the Chevelle ones are more suited to bigger motors & more radical 396's so they would not be a good choice for a stock or mild 396 or even a stock 454. Those would make more usable power with the smaller 1-3/4" tube headers like the truck headers.
Smaller tubes will work better on this bbc...it's a mild build and the torque will be better with them

Yes indeed....a great packing job!

Working with accuair directly to try to get a good deal on the e-level setup....waiting for them to call or pm me on another forum...

Also waiting for a call back from top banana for the bed and rest of the front clip sheetmetal...

And waiting on the shop owner glen to have a free weekend to do the cab roof swap....lots of waiting right now...but I don't want to start on the suspension until I have everything...and need to pull the motor...plan to bring it home in the shop truck!

Re: Project#1: Bright Horizons - 68 Swb big block on Air!

Thanks for the ttt....going to get a full day in on the truck tomorrow hopefully....working on some deals for the air management (accuair) and ordered some more parts so things are moving forward even if it doesn't show on the thread.....also getting closer on the shop truck. Completing that will mean I can pull the bb for paint and then the front clip can be pulled to sell in favor of a 68 clip. At that point suspension work will be able to begin

Re: Project#1: Bright Horizons - 68 Swb big block on Air!

Been a hectic week so no physical work on the truck but I am going to be finishing up the tach/air pressure dash tonight with some other dashes as well...
I received some of the suspension parts and painted those; and have the steering wheel to match the column also. Got a bunch of other misc parts in, purchased some more paint for the frame and suspension parts, and grabbed nice blasted original parts out of my "inventory" for the truck also.

Still working on the deal with Accuair to see what they will give me if I order directly or I will be buying from a board vendor. Body shop has been busy also so no room to pull the truck in this week...

Also getting closer on my shop truck so I can drive down and pick up the engine, transmission, and extra body parts.

67 specific ones have aircraft stlye (lift to release latches), and the ends that latch in, the ends that bolt to the floor, and the plastic covers are different.

I can always do that style if you prefer....I'll post up the set for my shop truck when I get them and see which you prefer. Also thinking of adding shoulder belts....

They are nice. Fully gone throught, disassembled, blasted, painted, lubed, assembled, spring tension fixed so belts retract smoothly and well...and of course all new webing...

I'm taking parts from belts and having him put together a nice set of 67's.

Re: Project#1: Bright Horizons - 68 Swb big block on Air!

Got a little of a late start after a late night (shipped parts, worked on the shop truck, and unpacked and inspected a bunch of parts for this truck). Then my oldest daughter was sick (we think it was from passing the sensor from the test she did-it's out and she feels better...and my little one wore up when the older was sick and took about 2hrs to get to sleep....

Enough of the drama

Progress so far....

Three pieces of glass out...cut the hard seal in the rear of the red top and was able to save the windshield seal and the one from the blue roof's rear glass.

Measured about 85 times and have taped up everything....getting ready to cut after a bite to eat....

Re: Project#1: Bright Horizons - 68 Swb big block on Air!

I trust you on the seat belt choice (and everything else), but just was curious what the differences were. The shoulder belts would be nice though as my daughter will be riding with me. Hope to get down there soon. Kind of bummed out I haven't been able to make the trip again since meeting you.

Re: Project#1: Bright Horizons - 68 Swb big block on Air!

Seatbelts look amazing! Btw I had a set of those Flowtechs on my BB and it made tremendous torque with them. Made 633 HP 666 TQ on a 535 with AFR heads. So they can yield some impressive numbers. Ground clearance was just fine on a 4 inch drop in the front. I obviously needed bigger headers but they work fine on a smaller engine. Never let them get hot (like from timing being jacked up( because they will rust in no time then (I suppose any header would though) but otherwise they hold up fairly well.

Chop is done. Went well on both pieces...sprayed rust neutralizer as preventative maintenance since it was opened up....grinding now welding next. Pictures when done so I can beat the rain...

Can you go into detail about where/how you are measuring for your cuts? Seems like precision would be important for this kind of job...
