Never noticed this drip rail trim before....

Is this stock? Must be?? I've just never noticed it...
(btw, this is on a GORGEOUS C20 on ebay currently - full resto)

Back in the day you could get bulk trim that would snap on your drip rails from an auto paint store and/or JC Whitney. No clue if that is what is on this or not.

Golden State sold a drip rail trim kit way back when (this is from'94). There is also a cancelled assembly drawing in my assembly manual, also from GSPP. :-)

i believe it was a factory option in 69. boardmember jeremiah king has a truck with this trim. from what i have read it is a pain to install which may explain why it was a short lived option.

LMC has the option, I think it's $118.00 kind of a pain to install but it's cleans up the drip rail.........

Found this set at a local salvage, no clue if it was factory or not, had my paint guy install it.

I have a complete set still packaged I've been hanging on to waiting for just the right truck. My '67 Super Custom may just be the one,if I decide to go with trim.

Thanks, I was truly surprised when I saw the truck with this trim, it was a Cheyenne but the glovebox was gone, I'm inclined to think it was factory because it wasn't riveted on like most aftermarket stuff I've seen and it was quality thick stainless steel trim.

the common repair by the dealer was to rivet it on after it popped of. The last of the option was in 69 as stated because of the problems with it coming off. Jerry Brown of the truck shop in crossville used to install it on some of his trucks, his solution was to use a two part epoxy to hold in place rather than the interference fit and clips from the factory. For the record the instruction in the old golden state catalog are nice but the trim fits for crap and as cdowns said even following step by step very closely ended up repainting drip rails and trim wadded up in pile on floor

Can anyone document these as factory? Are there any publications showing these as included with a trim option or as a stand alone RPO? The only things I have, as I said before, are the GMPP listing L150 @ $124.95(which would lead one to believe they originated it), an installation article reprint from Trucking magazine and a canceled drawing assembly manual page. Many GM options are seen in assembly manuals that did not end up being released for production. They have been out there longer than some of our member have been alive so it would no be a stretch for all seen to be aftermarket.

if you look on chipflyer's rpo list one says "B80 roof drip molding". i would assume if a truck had this it would be its own rpo but not certain.

OK, maybe... but I was asking for a primary source. It is not in my '70 data book by that number or description. Chip's list is good but a lot of it applies to heavier other than the K5-C30s

If the last of the option was '69, then it would not be listed in a '70 data book Does anyone have an earlier data book to see if there was an RPO code? The drip rail trim I have seen on the few original trucks I have come across was consistent with having been there well before the 90's and more likely from day one. I too am interested to see if it was a factory option listed on the SPID.

I always thought it was a GM accessory. But,if it has an RPO code I am convinced it was a factory option. It's very unlikely that trim would be offered for medium/heavy duties that wasn't available for light trucks. If anything,it would be the opposite.Such as,a C/40-90 was available with Custom package and it stopped there. No CSTs,Cheyennes,Custom Deluxe,etc. And,even the Customs lacked features the light trucks had with that package. I never saw Golden State make anything that wasn't offered by GM,like LMC does. Seth was about recreated what was no longer available from GM...the originator of today's reproduction market on these trucks
