buyer beware

any one out there use s.m.s auto fabric? if you have ,what kind of experience did you have?let me know if i'm the only one that had ,sorry is having a bad one.about 3 months ago i ordered a yard and a half of fab. to do my 66 custom seat.they are the only ones who have the original looking fab.what i got was a yard and a piece that they used for samples.they said it would take 2 months for a new roll.well they got it about 3 weeks ago and i'm still with out.today they said they would TRY and get it out.anyone have the same experience or am i the lucky one? also is there another company that sells the fab and can do the embossing?

Re: buyer beware

I decided that I wanted to do my seat in houndstooth, but didn't want the traditional chevy truck houndstooth. After taking weeks just to get a sample from SMS, I went with Ciadella. They had the fabric to me 2 days later and boy what quality! I'll be ordering some vinyl from them next.

Ciadella all the way!

Re: buyer beware

I ordered and got enough to do almost three complete 66 Custom Cab seats of the cloth insert material about April this year. I got the cloth insert and the fawn vinyl in about 5 or 6 weeks. The two white embossings took about 3 months. Materials all looked great but the embossing were a little saggy almost as bad as the 46 year old. The embossing order is what ticked me off as they charged $40 shipping on just the pair of embossings when I ordered since they told me it had to be shipped flat to avoid stress and wrinkling of the fresh heat seams. OK makes sense I said but then they were both shipped rolled up together in a tight little tube when they were shipped 3 months later! I still am very happy with what I got compared to my original and my 68 year old upholstery guy isn't any faster then SMS but can make it look better than new factory original. May take till spring but they should look factory original.

Re: buyer beware

i'm a big houndstooth fan....have had no issues with them as far as back-orders or materials not being shipped when they say.
