1. you do, that way its made to your specifications

2. forget the flowmasters with 4" tips. you'll hate them, waaaay too loud.

3. '88 Chevy is a whole different setup. the gas tank mounted inside teh framerails is the biggest issue though.

Q-Logic makes nice truck boxes.
I have (2) 12's behind the seat in q-logic boxes.
I have pictures on my pc at home, but not here at work.

everybody likes to dog flowmasters nowadays. the basic fact is they became so popular because they have a pretty good sound. there are other mufflers out there that are just as loud or louder and sound like crap. people like to dog stuff when it becomes too popular. i like the sound of my 40 series alot and everyone who has heard my truck does also. the only problem is when i put the 408 is they are a bit too loud but they weren't with the 350. and i have yet to see a dyno test where they put on flowmasters and lost performance over aero chambers. i have heard both on several trucks and both sound good.

Look around Ryan...there are several dyno tests that have shown Flow's actually losing hp over STOCK mufflers even in cases of F-bodies and such.
Dont get me wrong ...they do sound killer...but they are too loud and resonate like a *****....that has always been there. Now there are alternatives to there where there werent in the past..that is why they get dogged so bad now.

yeah if you slap a 3 inch flow on a f-body i can see it losing power because of loss of back pressure when the system is designed with a factory muffler in mind. that has everything to do with miss matching parts not because the mufflers are bad. but i'm not gonna pretend i now something about lt1 and ls1 cars casue i could care less about them. in my application i find it very hard to believe that if i switched to areo chambers i'm gonn pick up hp. i'm actualy going to switch to edelbrocks or borlas to quite it down.

i have 40 series Flowmasters on my 86. 2 1/4" duals all the way back. this is not a performance setup at all, small pipe and Flowmasters. it does sound pretty good though. on my TA, i have a full mandrel bent 3" Flowmaster system. i'll be looking to replace it, or install a converter in it almost as soon as it comes home. you think interior resonance is bad on a truck! it just gives you a headache everytime you drive it. does sound good from the outside though.

I was very tempted to try the Edelbrocks out. They sound pretty mean from what I heard from their website. They should scream with your 400 do something different. I went Aerochambers because they have a uniqe yet almost retro sound to them. Borla should sound pretty badass too. Just dont go sticking some 40 series on like everyone else who thinks their car is a dragster since they put on some loud mufflers.

If you want a meaner sounding car, build a meaner motor. Thats what I say.

i totaly agree with you. i've got a video clip of 82blackbeast's truck with his trickflow headed 408, and he has the edelbrocks on it and its killer. but the video is huge, like 60 or 70 megs so i don't know how i can send it. i might get my friend to host it on his server eventauly. i have never heard borlas on a carbed motor so i am tempted to try them out and see what they would sound like.

well... if its an mpeg you can compress it to divx and get it down to under 10 megs easily. You can PM me if you want some more info. I have a couple clips of my truck with my aerochambers if you want to view em.

These boxes are kind of big, but they look and sound great.
I am 5'-9" or so and could use the seat back a little, but I have gotten use to it and it doesnt bother me anymore. With these boxes you can expect the seat to be pushed forward 2-3 notches from all the way back. That will give you a good idea of where the seat will be with the boxes installed. I have attaches a couple pictures.

Right now I have a stock 350 with Dynomax headers(w/3"collectors) 2 1/4" pipes out behind the rear tires, and Thrush Turbo's for mufflers. I want it LOUDER and deeper! I replaced the muffs with straight pipes one time.....WAY TOO LOUD! Do Flowmaster 40's sound good for me?
