Xmember mods
Ok I'm new here and I have a 66 C10 short step side and I wanna go as low as I can with static drop I have seen a hand made drop member from the factory one but not sure on how to do it. Any help on this would b great and I have a pretty good make it work look on things so I'm open to ideas but money is short needs to be cheap

Check out Dino's dually build in the 'Projects and Builds' section. I believe he pancaked the crossmember on that one. I know he did the crossmember on the orange Suburban he used to have. You will have to do a search for that build thread, it was a couple years ago.

I've seen it referred to as "pancaking" the crossmember. Basically you end up sectioning some of the center of the crossmember (so horizontal cuts, across its width). I will say, my truck is static and although somewhat low, even at only a ~4/6 drop my crossmember can get damn close to the ground and be a pain on speed bumps etc.

Ok that could work just add to the frame then cut out the desired amount and move the crossmember up. But witch would b better this way,the pancake xmember,or the old school Z the frame I have had like 10 reflector collectors but this front suspension here I'm lost I drop it and hello bump stop look at swapping it for a shorter stop and then it's the steering shaft I know spindles are gonna have to go on that's a must

When you raise the crossmember, that raises the engine up as well. Then you can have engine and trans to cab floor issues.

I might actually have a clerance issue anyway not sure yet but im gonna run a chevy 350 with a muncie 4 speed i dont think there will be a problem with clearance issue but i might any info on that would much appricated thanks for the info guys

there was a thread a few years back that did that and there was fairly detailed example. could be a couple more than a few. some else may remember.

Yes thank you thats exactly what i needed to get on this Project but you can go with a 2 inch on this rite cus 2 inches there a 3 inch spring and a 2 inch spindle was what i was wanting to do up front
