wheel/hubcap questions for 1972 blazer

i have a few questions about wheels and hubcabs for 1972 blazers... first, the color of my dog dishes are black with the yellow chevy emblem. is this the correct color or are they newer hubcaps? also, did the wheels ever come the same color as the truck? my blazers hugger orange, i took the hubcaps off and was thinking about painting the wheels the same color as the car, then putting the hubcaps back on. anybody ever done this before?

Re: wheel/hubcap questions for 1972 blazer

The bow tie should be blue to be correct year. I have seen color matched rally wheels and they look sharp with the beauty rings. I'm not sure how the color matched wheels would look with just the hubcaps. Posting a picture of your rig will help. You may put a request in the photoshop section to see what it would look like.

i have a build thread you can check out if you want, just to get an idea. it doesn't have rally's it just has the steel ones. can the 73+ ones bowtie be painted blue and look the same?

Re: wheel/hubcap questions for 1972 blazer

I just looked at your build thread. I think those would look good painted with the beauty rings.

I'm the bow ties on the hubcaps could be painted, but does it really matter? Only the die-hards know they aren't the correct year (or care). The beauty rings aren't factory either, so I'm guessing the wheels are off a later model rig.

Re: wheel/hubcap questions for 1972 blazer

thank you bouncytruck, i think i might still go to the trouble to paint them blue though but i am going to paint the wheels hugger orange to match the truck. next weekend ill hit the paint shop and get some. try it with the beauty rings, and without, see what i like more.

btw, REALLY diggin your blazer, awesome look to it
