Which is the best shifter for my truck?!
Hi!
I would like to install a shifter on my truck. I have a th350 transmission! What is the the best shifter for quick switches? The other question is where i mount it...on the floor or on the transmission!? I ve a seatbench for 3 person...and i think 16" lenght would be okay for comfortably shifting?! Regards from germany Sascha |

Here is the Mega shifter for trucks works very well in my truck. It is cable operated so is mounted to the floor.

What do you mean quick switches?
Do you want to manually shift it thru the gears? |

Re: Which is the best shifter for my truck?!
Actually it is at about the same height as the seat and is quite comfortable. You can't see it in those pictures but there is a button in the handle to shift the GV overdrive and I sometimes drive with my hand on the shifter. The one you looked at would work also and would give you more of a stock look.

Re: Which is the best shifter for my truck?!
The one from summit would look good but is not designed for hard manual shifting like the B&M mega shifter is. If you need more height just build a box under the shifter to raise it up a bit.

Here's a link. Says it comes with a 5 foot cable. Should be enough.

Yes that is the one I have and I trimmed the plastic base to fit the hump in the truck.

Re: Which is the best shifter for my truck?!
i have the quicksilver shifter in my 72. mine is shorter than most people would like but i have long arms and i love it. my opinion is if i'm banging gears and all i'm gonna be up on the wheel anyways. but i can sit back comfortably in the seat and still shift with no problems. mine came with a 5 ft. cable as well but you can buy longer cables for these shifters. to me the light truck mega shifter was to tall and i liked the looks and operation of the quicksilver better. i like how that it only has 4 positions. the drive position is as far back as it goes and then ratchets seperatly to low and 2nd but doesn't come back any farther. when in drive or lower gears mine is only about 2 inches from the front of my seat.

Hmmm...the quicksilver shifter...that looks good too!
Now its difficult to decide me! Can you post a picture from the qicksilver in your truck? Its hard to believe that you can sit back comfortably in the seat and still shift with no problems! I read that its only 8 inches long! But i belive when you say it! Sascha |

Re: Which is the best shifter for my truck?!
i'll try to get pics tomorrow. i forgot to mention i'm using a seat from 93 chevy pickup that is a little bit lower than stock. i have mine mounted closer to the seat than most people do since it doesn't have to come back farther to get into lower gears. when i put it in i was afraid it might not work right so i was just gonna make or find a taller handle more like a pistol grip but it worked out fine.
