A large turbo works best at high rpm, it's not going to do you that much good for the bottom end torque. 9.5:1 is too much, you should have turbo pistons in it. Stick a turbo type cam in it. Make sure the bottom end is bullit proof. Run a high volume oil pump, and a cooler. If you go with a blow thru system, you will need to pressurize the carb in a box.

being a turbo off of a diesel it would never have to run over 3500rpm thats why i figured it wouldnt be a bad idea to use it on my motor bacause it should put out at lower rpm's

A "big" Turbo is not nesesarily going to make "big" power. Your engine has to move enough air to make the turbo spin to get the boost you want.

Vortech makes a turbocharger for a carbed SBC. Their website would proably explain how it works...

I found an awesome site on this very subject. go to yahoo groups http://www.groups.yahoo.com and search for "blowthruturbo" and just browse thru the info on the site. You will have to have a yahoo sign-in name to join though, but no biggie. From what I've gathered there are a few different ways to turbo a carb engine. I have been thinkin on this idea for awhile, just to see a turbo'ed 350 on the street. good luck

Here's more what your after. Single turbo. Remember most of the time they recommend, a fast reving, high rpm motor and most of the time they won't do it unless, you have a SOHC conversion, to pull more RPM out of your engine safer. Also as mentioned above a oil cooler, and huge intercooler are a must. And a cool air set up and ceramic headers, heat it your main eneimy, with this type set-up, What I can't believe is they don't have a cooled air set-up on the twin turbo blazer. ------------------ 1972 2wd Blazer, 350/700R4/3:73 posi/NOS. Gale Banks had a twin turbo setup out a long while ago that was making 780 HP from a race prepped 350. Sizing of a turbo or twin turbo system is very important. I believe that turbonetics had some good information on sizing for applications. This is a build from the bottom project. Forged crank is a real good idea, turbo pistons, about 7.5 to 8 compression ratio. I'm a big fan of the blow-though design. Banks used a air dump valve on the air box when the throttle was closed(hi vacuum) the valve opened this allowed the twin turbos to stay spooled up. When the throttle was punched vacuum dropped slaming the valve shut and this effectively did away with turbo lag. Turbo lag being the reason that most dislike turbos. If you work your way through all this then ensure the life blood(oil) for the turbo is always there. Moroso has an item called accusump I believe that is a gas charged reserve oil accumulator. If oil pressure drops off the accumulator discharges keeping oil on the turbo bearings to prevent failure. I'll close with this is not a slap on addition. You could probably get something from it. It would not be worth the effort unless you are willing to do it right.
