This started out as a father and son project but a tragic accident happened and I lost my son 26 years old and the owner of this truck which now belongs to me so this is my mission but my health is poor as I am dieing. I want to finish this I got the motor in this week and trans funny the truck had a turbo 350 with a V8 in it I went to put the driveshaft in now the truck has a 434 smallblock w/ turbo 400 shorttail and the driveshaft is too long

Re: My Project

sorry to hear of your loss and also of your health. but as far as the driveshaft goes. around here most of the machine shops can shorten or lengthen a driveshaft. the problem you may have is that the front yoke is different from a th350 to th400. but with both of these trans being everywhere they can be found easily and cheap. i would however run a driveshaft safety loop if going this route. one shop won't build you a shaft unless you buy one. i have had many driveshafts modified and rebalanced and have no had problems but like anything someone will say not to do this. good luck with your project.

Re: My Project

Welcome the the board and the hobby!! My deepest sympathy to you and your family for the loss of your son. Last year I lost my 22 year old son in traffic accident. The truck in my avatar was his. We got it when he was 14 and rebuilt it mechanically, he used and abused it through high school & collage. Now I'm doing a frame off and incorporating all the ideas we talked about. Good luck with your health and completing your sons truck. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Re: My Project

As a parent that has lost a child I can relate with your broken heart and the feeling of unfairness in the world. gET BUSY WITH YOUR NEW truck you have something to prve to yourself and time is important. Lots of good info here just ask and maybe someone even lives close to you that may lend a hand. Welcome to our home and the new found love.

Re: My Project

I have the yoke changed on the shaft it's just hard to find anybody to do a driveshaft and to all Thank you for your kindness it's been tough looking at this truck knowing my son bought it but I am going to get it done I also just ran into a turnsignal issue i have a racing steering column in it and a guy gave me a universal clamp on but it looks like its for a single filment bulb and brake and turn share ????
