Angry Ticking Noise??

For a month or so now my truck has been making a ticking noise that is coming from the area around the torque converter. My tranny is a 700R4, which came out of an 84K10(and before the 84K10 was in a 84 blazer) and I have no clue if it was ever rebuilt or not. People told me its probably an exhaust leak, which makes sense because my collectors are right near the tranny, but I've checked and I dont think its exhausr. Could it be the tranny(torque converter?), or the oil pump or something?

Have you checked your flexplate? This can give a ticking noise if loose or cracked.

Last week I checked the bolts LOOKED tight...and I didnt think of looking for a crack, is there a common place where the flexplates crack?
