Setting Up a Paint Booth
I finally got a Saturday off work so guess what I did? Helped my dad start setting up a paint booth for our shop. One of his vendors had took this in on a trade and gave it to us. Got over to my parents house about 6am and got started. It rained cats & dogs all day so that held us up a little, but we made pretty good progress. Check it out. Not sure when my weekend will come up again, but I can foresee some nice rods & trucks backing out of that booth!! :-) It's been far too long since I've been able to work with my dad. When I was in high school he ran a body shop out of the house. Then his labor decided they needed to go to college & left. Man I enjoyed working with him. Not having to talk, just work.
When I got there at 6AM ![]() Lunch Time - Getting the backwall up was a booger!! ![]() About 4 ![]() ![]() Our makeshift raincoats to get to the house!! He wanted to see his grandbaby pretty bad!! ![]() There's my little man!! ![]() Whenever we get to finish it, the booth with be a full downdraft with a pit in the floor. Should be much better than putting a big fan in the door to "suck" the over spray out. ![]() Last edited by ETsC10; 09-02-2012 at 10:33 AM. |

Re: Setting Up a Paint Booth
That is one great freebie there (not to mention an outstanding warehouse/garage).
It sure fun seeing family projects like this ...you surely are blessed! (...and your son is sure a cutie!!) Can't wait to follow this as your space evolves! ![]()

Re: Setting Up a Paint Booth
What a deal! I also worked with my dad in the family business and looking back it was good hard work and I learned my profession from him. I'm sure you two will spend hours in your booth and enjoy every minute! Cheers, Pat

Re: Setting Up a Paint Booth
Well while we were chilling at the beach for Labor Day, my dad got some actual work done. It's coming together pretty good. Man having a tractor with a bucket is better than sliced bread. It can hold those panels above its head & never complain.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We have also been brainstorming shop names. I think we've settled on Second Chance Autoworks. This for sure isn't our first rodeo. He's had a shop at home where he's done bodywork for as long as I remember. A lot of my fondest memories of my childhood involve working in the shop with Dad. Being around him, & learning the trade from him has definitely played a big role in making me the man I am today. I hope to pass much of that down to my son.

Re: Setting Up a Paint Booth
Judging by the 3rd pic up, you must have pole barn.
