Re: Future gasser '57 chevy

Looks awesome.
One more small suggestion:
turndowns on your exhaust.
I had my exhaust like yours for a while, and it coated the rear axle and shocks with soot from when the choke was on in the mornings. Also, the bed had exhaust soot because the soot came up through all the cracks, and I was cleaning the rear window frequently.

Nice redo on the suspension. Looks more professional and stable.

Robo - if the driveline setup has a bell housing mount, it should not have the rear crossmember under the tailshaft. Having all 3 mounting points (i.e. engine, bell hsg, AND tailshaft) can cause binding in the driveline. Should be engine mounts + EITHER the bell hsg mount or the tailshaft mount, but not both.

Good question, I did a little diggin a while back when I installed a T5 in my 66, and this was the answer I came to.

Hope that helps.

Re: Future gasser '57 chevy

Made some changes to the front steering to help eliminate steering wobble.
Installed a 1957 chevy passenger car steering arm on the passenger side, a 1984 S-10 pitman arm and center drag link from Speedway for the cross steering. Makes the truck steer alot better. Also added an all electric guage cluster panel purchased on Ebay.

Re: Future gasser '57 chevy

That cross steering setup looks interesting, give us some more details please. What do I need to do that to my truck which currently has the same CPP kit that you started with. I don't think I'll ever be competely satisfied with it like it is now.

Your truck is a jewel.

509nat: Your truck looks great. Here's a coincidence, someone posted a gasser on eBay today. Not as nice lookin' as yours, but cool just the same. Have a look.

Question: Know how to sell your truck for $50,000?
Answer: Spend $100,000 building it.

Look at page one of this thread, there's a pic of that same 55 truck there. Someone posted it as inspiration for this build but this one has definitely passed that one in the quality department. I'm not feeling that altered wheelbase look.

Well I'll be dipped in $hit, Russell. That is indeed the same truck. I never noticed the picture.
