Re: Quiet down my cab

Wallyworld sells a do-it-yourself spray on bed liner that may be useful, i think its like 50 bucks and that is supposed to do a single layer on a shortbed? I may be wrong tho
Edit: Haha i should have read the last couple of posts, well now ya know lol

Re: Quiet down my cab

B-Quiet (brown bread) has some good reviews...

I'm think about it and a DYI Raptor bedliner for the bottom of the cab...

Re: Quiet down my cab

Well, pictures didn't post. It is duct insulation from Lowe's. It is 1/8 inch self adhesive foam with foil on one side.

Re: Quiet down my cab

Hey, I finally figured out how to put pictures in a post. This stuff seems to work well. I haven't driven the truck yet, the carpet was thrashed, so I'm ordering a new one while I'm at it. Three rolls did the floor, inside of the doors, and I might have enough for the door panels. It costs about $15.00 per roll.

Re: Quiet down my cab

That's the exact stuff that I was considering buying at Home Depot, but decided on the stuff on Amazon since it provided more material for the money. My solution worked great but that looks like it will work too.

Re: Quiet down my cab

I used two gallons of scorpion spray in bed liner, (A lot like Line-X) and mixed the ceramic insulating particles NASA developed, and then covered that with Frost King Duct insulation from Lowes, then a layer of the jute, and then the Mass Loaded Vinyl that is heat molded to the back of my carpet. Yes probably overkill but I want this thing quiet!

My Question is, how do quiet down the doors!?? They sound so tinny, and yes I know it is an old truck.

I used Fatmat in the doors.I did it when I replaced regulators and rollers so access was easy.It made a very noticeable difference, the doors sound solid now when you close. On vertical surface make sure its very clean,I used simple green the denatured alcohol.

Re: Quiet down my cab

I did 2 layers of fatt Matt followed by some carpet insulation and then factory carpet....

Probably the single best thing I did to my truck. It's 100x more quiet and long trips are enjoyable. Also did the push on gmc Paul's door seals and ditched the glass packs for a full exhaust system.

Looks Like I will be getting some fatt mat, and how long did it take for your doors to line up properly after installing the push on door seals?

I did push on seals at the same time as Fatmat. The pass side was good to go but the driver side has needed some break in time with an occasional spray of silicone.Even cutting them at a 45 it helps to crack a window when shutting, thats a good thing, right?
