Anyone in the San Diego area wanna help me do timing chain?
I'm in Ocean Beach and don't have a very good place to work on my truck. It needs the timing set replaced, it's knocking on the timing cover. I already have all the parts from Summit including gaskets and fresh hardware.
If anyone in the area is willing to help me fix the truck I'll buy the pizza and beer and whatnot. I've never done a timing chain before, so it would be nice to learn by doing it with someone who has... My name is Ryan and my cell phone is 951-764-6456. Let me know if you're willing to help and how much you'd want in payment. I hate taking my truck to the shop if I can avoid it! Thanks! |

BTW my truck is a 64 c10 with a small block, no p/s or a/c or anything.

I think the hardest part is getting the harmonic balancer off and back on.. or is it cleaning the old gasket off.. I hate cleaning old gasket crap off.

Re: Anyone in the San Diego area wanna help me do timing chain?
Yeah I've been looking around and it looks like the balancer is going to be the biggest PITA. My main concern is not having a place to do it. I live by the beach so the streets are crowded, and I'm sure some hippie or another would object to whatever fluids might find their way onto the pavement...
