pushrod length on 90 engine with early heads??
I'm trying to figure out what dictates the length of the pushrod in a 350 engine. The engine is nearly stock. I am NOT using this particular engine I'm building in a TBI truck , it's going in a 79 camaro with typical intake & carb. I don't have the ones that came out of the engine any longer as I purchased a rebuildable shortblock. The heads I just got are earlier version #882 heads(NON- TBI) .I know I don't need 'over' pushrods for a cam that is only .443/.465 lift, but when getting ready to order pushrods I saw STOCK pushrods listed for a 1990 TBI engine that were 7.200 long and 7.800 long. So my question is should the pushrods be the 'longer' 7.8's that were standard in the 79 style engine. I THINK the shorter pushrods listed from 87-up are just for engines with factory roller lifters not all 87-up. ANYWAY if anyone knows for sure which ones please let me know. late 90 tbi block with early heads and NON-roller cam. . thanx, crossy

I belive roller cam use diffrent push rods and the tbi motors from 86-95 could have roller cam or traditional but you can install a roller cam in those years real easier if it dident come with them
