Rare '68 Panel - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I was down at a friend of a friends on Sunday and had a chance to check out a very rare panel. It was a '68 3/4 4wd equiped with factory tach, no-spin rear axle, and positraction front axle. No misprint, it called it out on the glove box tag as posi front. He picked it up out of New Mexico I believe. Needs restored but should be neat. Has anyone else ever seen this? Unfortunately I didn't have my digicam with me or else I'd post a pic.

My brothers '72 GMC 3/4 ton pickup has the posi front and rear axles too and as I can remember the last time I looked it was on the options sheet.

Wow....they made less than 100 '68 K20 panels if i remember correctly. One with a factory tach and front & rear posi?.....VERY rare. Post some pics soon

Wow, that is extremely rare. In 67 they only made 30 K20 panels I believe, and I *think* they made even less in 68. Get pics as soon as you can, sounds like your friend has an extremely rare bird.

My book shows 68 K20 panels in 1968. That's one rare bird if it's for real.

It's definitely the real deal! Everything checks out and it has never been screwed with. It will need the typical burban rust repair but if only 68 were produced, maybe 50% left out there somewhere? Top that off with tach, no-spin and front posi; that's a find. I'll get pics as soon as I can.

Sounds like a sweet score to me! I am curious to know if in 68 they had 50th Anniversary Panel Trucks? Post some pics of that truck soon!!!

TJ, I don't see why they wouldn't have made 50ths...they had burbs and vans.
Hmmmm. I wonder if there was an El Camino 50th annv. It IS listed as a truck...

50th Panels, yes. 50th El Caminos, No. At least according to the 68 data book.
