what should i do to my '86 K10? appearance wise?
alright I'm not sure what i should do as far as appearance on this truck. i've got the tint on all the windows done,
I was thinking a bumper like this with some lights. Where can I find this style front bumper guard? this is my truck should i also get a sun visor too? i mean I'm having a hard time deciding on what to do appearance wise to this truck i don't want it to be tacky and take it straight to the 80's but i want it to look damn good. The steps no longer exist, i sold them. Last edited by yellow400ex05; 09-27-2012 at 02:10 PM. |

In my opinion DO NOTHING!!!!!!! it looks perfect just the way it is, but if your looking for a brush gaurd like on the silver truck just check your local craigslist I'm sure you can find one, if not there check any 4x4 magazine.

I would put a double/double rollbar and some KC's just like it would have had back in the day

I put the rest of the bumper bolts on and drive the heck out of it. No visor, no lights. It looks awesome the way it is.

I wouldn't do anything other than install the missing bolts in the front bumper.

Re: what should i do to my '86 K10? appearance wise?
I would swap off the chrome covers and put either original covers on it or aftermarket 'beefy' and get different steps otherwise its good. Although i haven't seen a dual headlight step side yet that also might be interesting but that front end looks awesome on it

I'd remove the steps unless you got kids that need to climb in and out.
Edit: Are you running steering stabalizer? |

Re: what should i do to my '86 K10? appearance wise?
I'm with the majority here, don't change a thing.
But put those bumper bolts in. And get the rust on the doors fixed. And if the rust had gotten a hold in there, its other places as well. Now is the time to fix and protect it. My 83 looked like that when I parked it. A few years later the cab fell to the frame. Floors, rockers, supports all toast. Now is the time to go under it, scrape, sand, brush and slop some POR 15 all over the underside. A good flat black over the POR 15 and you'll be good to go. ...maybe not exaclty "slop" it on. The rest of your paint is too good to risk by "slopping". BTW - the truck looks great. I'm more than a little jealous. |

Re: what should i do to my '86 K10? appearance wise?
I would fix the only bit or rust it looks like your truck has on the door. Other than that it's perfect, looks great.

Re: what should i do to my '86 K10? appearance wise?
personally i didn't mind the 80's, as long as your truck is real underneath. have a visor on mine, get used to neck craning at lights, also got the same steps as you, didn't want them, wife did- will grow on you after awhile. other then a few minor mechanicals, the only thing i would do is add a billet grill, that'll give it a nice smooth look, them 80's grilles just look to plasticky

the whole underside of the truck is beautifully undercoated with not one tiny spec of rust under the whole truck. the bolts for the front bumper i guess I'll have to pull them off another 80's truck at the pull apart yard. the steps were gone a day after i got the truck. I do plan on getting rid of the stacked blocks soon. give me a little bit haha for now i just wanna drive it. I'm doing cherry bombs on the truck tomorrow as well |

Re: what should i do to my '86 K10? appearance wise?
Clean truck, maybe chrome steps and wheel well mouldings for the rear. Someone posted my 76 Chevy Sport above, I just removed the pushbar for a cleaner look the other night. Like the look of the chrome pushbar on the 81' to 87'. Here my 83'.
