3-Door Surburban
I ran into a 3-door Surburban (70 model I think) in a junk yard this past weekend while searching for a bench seat. I had never heard of such an animal. The guy at the junk yard said it was a fairly rare vehicle since not many were made. Is this true?

Not too rare. I have one for sale here in Washington and it is in "pretty good" shape and I can't even get it sold for $1000!! I am parting it out. I think they are getting more popular, and there weren't as many made as a blazer or trucks, but not too rare.

I have one. Basically anyone with a '67-'72 suburban has a 'rare' 3-door suburban. '66 and prior suburbans were 2-door, '67-'72 were 3 door, and '73 & up were 4 door.
check out this post on the 67-72 Suburbans forum for more insight... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...threadid=68664

Don't feel bad, seems every steaming pile of crap burb you see is a 'rare 3 door'. I was looking at one last winter, the body was falling down over the frame, and the dude wanted something like 3 grand becouse they only made 32 of them. I actually laughed in his face. (later I felt bad for doing so though) I corrected him, but then he tried putting me in my place with the 'ole "I was buying cars when these were new, which was before you were born" blah blah blah...
It is a common mistake. |
