Weird contraption under dash.....what is it
I have a 62 fleetside. The POs have done some weird stuff but this looks factory but I have no clue what it is. I can't get my cellphone camera to transfer the pic so I'll try to describe it. It is under the dash, attached to the firewall about 2/3 up, right of the throttle linkage and left of center of the cab. It is a short lever about 4" long, 1" wide with a spring to bring it back. When you push the lever it engaged a soft rubber boot that is about 1.5" diameter that goes through the fire wall. On the engine side the rubber device narrows to a smaller hole. What the heck is this??

Mine has that and it's for the windshield wash. Sounds a lot like what you're describing.

The windshiled wash sounds like it could be the ticket. Where did these old trucks mount the squirters? My truck has 2 on the hood but I figured it was all aftermarket since he installed an aftermarket bottle and electric motor with an electric button on the dash

I had the cowl piece off of mine the other day and it looked like the remains of my squirters were in there. I'm not sure if that's factory or not though.

ha...same here! It took me a couple of days to figure it out and the only reason I did is because the original bag that the washer fluid went in is still under the hood.
