Re: Air bag help.
In my personal opinion, I would steer clear from airbagit.com, since they have a bad reputation for failing parts and just poor quality. There are a lot of great manufacturers out there that are affordable and worth it in the long run. I personally wouldn't trust my suspension with their products, even if it saved me a few bucks.

Re: Air bag help.
I asked the same question a few weeks ago in reference to Chassis Tech AKA Airbagit.com and received many negative comments. I have a friend who works for a very reputable customer shop in Cali and he suggested *******************. I don't know if they use that there but he has for many years. Most of what he builds are frame layed dualies.

Re: Air bag help.
In some cases RideTech (AirRideTech) parts are more expensive than others out there. I was just pointing out that for a little more money than airbagit.com, there are much better choices. Porterbuilt is a good option.
Our Pro2 Air Ride Kit uses Porterbuilt items and comes with everything you need to install air ride on your truck... minus drop spindles, which can be added. The Pro2 systems runs $4359. This kit has tubular a-arms, etc. We also have the Pro1 which is a little cheaper. Pro2 Air Ride Kit You can definitely get a good product for a lot cheaper than $8k. |

Re: Air bag help.
Airbaggit.com is nothing but junk. Ask them why they operate under several different names and several different web addresses.
Airbaggit does indeed get some good reviews, from magazines that have 8-10 pages of advertising from airbaggit. Big bucks will buy you good reviews. It's your money, spend it with whom ever you choose.

Re: Air bag help.
Are you keeping 3/4 ton hubs and axles or switching to half ton?

Re: Air bag help.
The Pro1 is a bolt-in application with the exception of the axle brackets. The tough thing on the 73-87's is the leaf springs. It is a good idea switching to a 4-link setup, which usually involves minor welding.

Re: Air bag help.
You can go with a 1/2T suspension system, but just need to use a 3/4T drop spindle, etc. Other than that, the bag plates & cups will work since the control arms are the same.

Re: Air bag help.
I've got a C30 that I put bags on the front and will be putting an AOL in the rear. I plan to remove atleast half the springs. I made a template and had my upper bag mounts cut out and bent locally and had my lower control arms spring pocket cut out and a flat plate welded in. Cost me less than $180 for everything. I did some research and went with Slam Specialties SS8 Bags. The truck is still being built so I cant tell you about the ride yet. Also I am not trying to lower, just ride improvement.

Re: Air bag help.
bags, cups and upperplates will be about 200 and fittings and airline and valves could range from 200 to 400 depending on what you do to the front. another 100 for a tank and another 200 for the compressor. bags and brackets for the rear another 200 or so....round about off my head prices. you could do it cheaper like i did in my 86 build but i recommend spending the extra money where i didnt....mine is just a toy i drive every once in a while
