3 speed column clean up.
Will I be ok, degreasing the section of the column that is not painted and paint it black again. will i need to grease anything when I'm done. Other then the area the rods for the shifting linkage .

Are you talking about the underhood part?If so you can clean and degrease it well.Tape off the holes that various parts of the linkage enter the column and paint it.Then in each of those opening spray some white lithium grease.There is a write up(do a search) to adjust the shift linkage,that is a good idea before you dress up a pig.
