factory correct oil bath pics?

I am trying to determine the correct oil bath for my 66. My build sheet specifies oil bath air cleaner, but from all my research I am confused as to what it looks like, can anyone shed some light on what the factory correct oil bath looks like on a 66?

"High Torque 283" LMFAO!!!! I guess it would be high torque - compared to a 5 horse briggs.

I think they were built different than the passenger car engine, there was a "hi-torque" 327 as well, they were all 2bbl, and the cam grind(?) was set up to make them work with the torque on the low rpms, wheras the passenger cars were higher revving, and set up for top end horse power

No doubt you are correct sir - however we have to compare apples to apples here. Comparing the torque output of a 283 to just about any other V8 engine is comparing apples to oranges. There's just no such thing as a 3" stroke V8 that has "twist the seat of your pants" torque. That's what I was poking fun at. I'm not sure what year model that particular engine is, but I'm guessing the 327s probably didn't even exist yet at that point. That being said, it probably was the highest torque production engine at the time, at least for that particular application. I was just poking fun at the fact that a committee of people (at GM) thought enough of it to actually name it "High Torque". lol...man how times have changed.

Re: factory correct oil bath pics?

lol, marketing ploy for sure, and probably more torque than the same passenger car 283, 327's were available, but as far as I know were only an option for the big 60 series trucks,
wonder how the 283 torque compared to the big gmc v6 of the same era??
as you mention it I guess I have found it funny as well that the little 283 is labled hi-torque, espically on hindsight of the motors that were coming down the pike after 66....

interesting note: I have heard a story of a guys dad and uncle who both purchased 63's new , one with a 292, and the other with the 283, they street raced them a few times and the 292 would always beat the 283 for a few blocks, until the hp of the 283 started working...

The 327 was available in 1966 for trucks. The 327 was introduced by Chevy in 1962.
