Mid-'80s seats?
When I was a teenager, we had a 1986 4x4 Suburban with captain's chairs up front, but the best part was the dual-side armrests built in. In 1992, they got rid of the armrest next to the driver's door so you had to use the one that was incorporated into the door panel.
I'd like to get a set of these '80s seats and try to get them into the 1971. I searched the site looking for anyone who's tried it, but I got bupkus. Anyone know how difficult/easily they fit?

Re: Mid-'80s seats?
I had some of the later, one-armed seats in my 72 when I got it. They will fit with some angle iron, square tubing, and new hardware and holes drilled. I'll take a picture of how mine were mounted when I get home from work this afternoon, to give you an idea. It really shouldn't be too hard to make them work when you find some.

Re: Mid-'80s seats?
I figured it'd be relatively easy, I just wondered if it's been tried and if there are any large pitfalls about it.

Re: Mid-'80s seats?
I have Astor Van seats in one of my Suburban. I have installed them in three others also. You can mount there base on the flat stop behind the raise in the floor where the stock seat bolts and use one of the existing bolt holes on the rear so you only have to drill three holes. Its a great seat and has arm rests. Don't know if this helps.

Re: Mid-'80s seats?
Sorry, I wasn't able to get pictures last night, and I forgot to grab some before I left for work this morning. I'll write a note on my hand and get some tonight.
As for pitfalls, the only one I see is drilling extra holes in the body haha. I know it is just the floor, but it freaks me out a little when I have to drill holes in my vehicles to install stuff lol.

Re: Mid-'80s seats?
Here's the pictures finally.
#1 shows the metal plate they used, bolted to the seat track (front of the seat) #2 shows the underside of #1 #3 is the rear setup. They just cut some 1" square tubing and set it under the seat tracks, and bolted it down with about 4" or 5" bolts. #4 is (roughly) how the seats sit in the Burb, when installed.
