ho52 /72 with load bolt

what is the wrench sizefor the load bolt retaining nut?

I have an 1 1/8 " wrench but its not large enough , and i dont want to buy a whole set, just the wrench i need.

I know there are plenty of people who have adjusted or removed their load bolts, can anyone help?

I'll let you know when I get Home Thursday evening. My guess is that it is 1-1/4.

I had 1 1/4" shallow socket didnt fit too well over the adjusting bolt to reach lock-nut but what little it did catch it seemed too big.

Sorry for the late response.

Checked it with a pump wrench and it is 1-1/4". If you were using a shallow socket you may need to go to a deeper well socket because of the load screw. You might also try not inserting the drive all the way into the shallow socket to make more room for the load screw.

In the end though you will need a deep well socket, because the torque spec once the load bolt is in the right position (Backed off 1/12 a turn once it makes contact) is about 125 ft-lb of torque and you woundn't want it to slip.

Thank you for the help Flathead i finally got my rearend completely done , i did end up using a 1 1/4 but it wasnt a snug fit in the wrench at all, either way it did the job with out round out the corners too much .
