Production Numbers

Tried doing a search but maybe I didn't use the right keywords. Question is does anyone have the production numbers for 67-72 trucks. Like how many of each model were produced, including 4wd and 2wd. I've seen a list of years sorted buy lwb and swb but no mention of 4wd and 2wd. Reason I'm asking is I'm looking at buying a '67 small window K20 and just wondering how rare that is. Thanks.

Re: Production Numbers

I typed "67-72 chevy truck production numbers" into google and it was the first result:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=104816

You won't find a breakdown anywhere in terms of small window vs big window, but there weren't many K20's made:

1967
3/4-Ton Commercial 4x4 - Model C/Series 20 - 127-in. w.b
MODEL BODY TYPE PRICE WEIGHT PROD.TOTAL
KS10903 Chassis & Cab 3083 - 498
KS10934 Fleetside 8ft 3230 - 2773
KS10904 Step-Side 8ft 3193 - -

3/4-Ton Commercial - Model C/Series 20 - 127-in. w.b
MODEL BODY TYPE PRICE WEIGHT PROD.TOTAL
CS20903 Chassis & Cab 2403 3346 6320
CS20934 Fleetside 8ft 2550 3848 50413
CS20904 Step-Side 8ft 2513 3753 785
CS20909 Stake 2606 3973 1415

Looks like only a little over 3,000 4wd models and ~59,000 2wd

Re: Production Numbers

The truck is a '67 K20 but it has a flat deck on it so I'm thinking the original box was removed and someone built a flat deck for it, unless it was a cab and chassis. I don't think the SPID is there but would the VIN tell me if it was a cab/chassis or a fleetside originally?

Re: Production Numbers

CE20903 = Chassis/cab. There were 498 of them built for the '67 model year, according to the "Chevrolet Red Book" from Motorbooks International.

For 4wd C-20's, there were 2,773 LWB fleetsides built (CE20934). None of the 4wd trucks produced that year in the 3/4-ton rating were (CE20904) stake beds. 872 of them were C-20 stepsides (CE20909).

Does that help?

Re: Production Numbers

This one is definitely an owner built flat deck. I guess it is possible it was a stepside.

Re: Production Numbers

According to the numbers I posted above, there were ZERO K20 stepsides built, so it was either a fleet or cab/chassis truck.

Here's a VIN decoder:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/Chevyear.html

I don't know if you can tell or not, it just says Pickup cab with bed. To see the numbers mentioned above to know exactly what it was you need the model number off the glovebox SPID.

Re: Production Numbers

I didn't notice your location earlier... given your location, it probably was a fleet bed, the bed rusted all to heck and they put a flatbed on it? That was a very common practice where I grew up in the snowbelt of NY. I even had an 86 Toyota truck with a homebuilt flatbed.

I think you can also check the wheelbase... if it's 127" I think it would be either (NOT positive on that at all) but if it's anything OTHER than 127" then it was probably a cab and chassis.
