Brake booster

i have a brake fluid leak coming from where the master cylinder meets the booster. is there a seal there? do i need a new booster or is it an issue with the master cylinder. the leak has destroyed the paint on my inner fenders.

The problem is with the master cylinder but the leaking brake fluid may have also ruined the brake booster.

Re: Brake booster

Your booster will be fine. Slap a new master on there and forget about it.

quick and simple check,
go out in the morn cold pull the vac plug to the carb on it,how much suction was there
do this when it's off 2-3 times after driving and compare to sitting all night

Re: Brake booster

If your booster is leaking
It prob wont have much vac in the morn
Pull the valve(10:00 o'clock on the booster face) out of the booster , should have suction
After driving see if more or less vac, or the same

Re: Brake booster

If you're not driving it much you may not have noticed that the brake pedal loses pressure when you're holding it steady. I have replaced many MC's on Hondas because the MC leaks. Never had to replace a booster.

Re: Brake booster

Mine just started leaking. Is there a seal between the mc and booster?

Re: Brake booster

the seal between the master and the booster is a foam rubber kind of thing that seals in the vacuum on the booster the seals for the fluid are all on the master the advice you got was spot on your master is leaking from the seal up by the rear of it. change your master and you should be ok... while youre at it clean and paint your inner fender and the truck is good as new
