Re: Project "Shifted"
You got me thinking about it when you said you were thinking about getting him something more new driver friendly.
I agree with your concerns because it isn't a question of if he will wreck his first car it's a matter of when and how bad. We were all teenagers once and lets face it our first car didn't escape without being involved in a wreck and a lot of us totaled our first car including myself. Now I'm not trying to tell you how to ride your horse but as a father myself I understand the issue here. Maybe the best strategy would be to buy him a $3,000 4 door honda or toyota and let him tear that up until he realizes he needs to take care of his ride. During that time you can still let him drive the truck under supervision, he can wash and wax it when it gets dirty, vacuum the interior, and do general maintenance like make sure the tires have proper pressure, lube the chassis, change the fluids, things of that nature to the truck so he feels a sense of responsibility and pride in it. Once he has shown some responsibility then you can hand him the keys to the truck and he will appreciate it a lot more. You will know he is being responsible and safe and that he will respect and take care of it. That's just my two cents, take it for what it's worth. Last edited by Xeen; 08-09-2014 at 01:37 PM. |

In my sleep deprived and caffeine driven trolling of the board tonight (this thread specifically) I think there needs to be a conversation about sending Shiro down the road and dragging this one to Niceville. I'll give you a shout.

Re: Project "Shifted"
Made a little progress over the last week. The first thing I did before jumping back on this project was to get my garage somewhat organized. I think that might have been one of the reasons I was dragging my feat on this thing. Once I got that done, I was able to finish the power steering lines for the rack and pinion (thanks Buck) and I cut out all of the holes for the AC vents (Vintage Air). Not big steps, but working on these projects is like eating an elephant, the only way to do it is one bite at a time.......
