Need help locating parts or usable column
I am restoring a 1968 Chevy C20 with my father and ran into a wall locating parts. It is a three on the tree no tilt manual. I have checked classicparts.com, lmc.com, and numerous other websites including this one to no avail. We are looking for a Plastic thrust washer and rubber ring that goes with it, shift housing bushing and a bushing seat. See attachment for more specifics. If no one has any ideas as to where we can find these.. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! We would like to keep our rebuild as original as possible thus locating these parts is important. Thank you all for your time.

Re: Need help locating parts or usable column
Playing a hunch....
ididit manufactures tilt columns. I wonder if they may also have the parts you need to fix yours. I don't know if they do, or not. Just playing a hunch.

Re: Need help locating parts or usable column
I called ididit manufactures today and spoke with George. He said they would not have any parts like that because they only sell automatic steering columns. He also asked another person about locating the parts who had no answer. Thanks for the option ChevloRay.
I might have to take you up on that offer Hot Rod C/10 but would like to give it a little more time. |

Re: Need help locating parts or usable column
Have you tried you local GM dealer? You would be amazed at what old parts they still have available. You need a part number or a parts counter guy with the '75 back book.

Re: Need help locating parts or usable column
I think I have those on an old column that I have. They will be used but your welcome to them if I have them. I can look tomorrow in the daylight if you want. Let me know and I'll ship em to you. If you want the whole column, I'll send it too. The shifter housing is worn out.

Re: Need help locating parts or usable column
Thanks every one for the options. Will call the Gm dealer and Pm some people. A few days ago I called a bunch of junk yards and found only one column and it was in rough shape. I was also thinking of having the plastic thrust washer machined if it can be done at a reasonable price. Does any one have an opinion on wether or not that will work. I dont see why it wouldn't. I will keep every body posted.

Re: Need help locating parts or usable column
ok we ended up having the part replicated on a lathe out of aluminum. It looks good and should work. Thanks all for the help.
