Winndshield washer pump
Just re assembling my '72 C/10 after inside out paint and got to the point of re installing my wiper/washer assembly. I rebuilt the washer pump and while I had it on the bench I hooked it up to 12volts and all I got from the washer pump was a click. The cam moved but the plunger didn't . Is this as it should be ? I just used the 2 terminals leading to the pump with the 12 volt jump pack. Want to get this operational before putting the rest of the dash together . Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Winndshield washer pump
What you're probably hearing is the solenoid releasing the piston to engage the cam on the motor. The wiper motor turning moves the washer piston up and down with a cam and resets it until you push the knob in again.

Re: Winndshield washer pump
If you rebuilt the old pump, you will more than likely find out it won't work properly. New imported rubber parts are cr@p. I've tried twice and finally gave up and installed a small electric pump motor under the dush. It's activated when I push the knob in. Only thing is that in order to keep it running you have to keep the wiper knob pushed in. It's not that big a problem here since we haven't gotten much rain lately.
