Unplugged Computer Controlled Quadrajet on older truck

I had a good computer controlled quadrajet given to me, it came off some guys daily after he stuck a Holley on it. I seen it driving around daily, so I think it is good.

Since this is an electric choke model, is there anyway I can stick this on my beater '82 4x4 with the sensors and stuff unhooked, and run keyed 12 volt ignition to the choke plug?

Or is there someway to put this electric choke setup on my divorced choke carb?

It currently has a divorced choke quadrajet with all the linkage removed and it's pretty hard to start. This truck is a rolling rust ball that only gets driven about 12 miles a week so I'm not too concerned about how it looks or getting the best fuel mileage/performance. Or spending anymore money on it.

i don't think the CCC carb will run right without the computer, because the computer controls the metering rods and to a certain extent, idle rpm.

i think you can switch to a electric choke from remote type. Why not try converting to manual choke?

All the pieces of linkage are missing, the choke plate just flops around. Other than that its a good carb.

This carb has a plug on the top, and plug on the side near the throttle linkage. Is this computer controlled or a dual pump shot?

The electronic solenoid pulses the primary metering rod up and down constantly, like a fuel injector does. This was GM's cheap and primitive way of making the carburetor perform more like expensive fuel injection. In a regular quadrajet, a vacuum control piston moves the rod up and down based on engine load.

If you are skilled in electronics, you could make a circuit with a vacuum sensor to mimic the operation of an original quadrajet. Nothing is impossible, but in the end it's probably just not worth the time or effort considering how cheap you can get a used Holley or Edelbrock.

you may be able to convert the choke over just depends on you current carb body most will work some will not. if you try to run this ccc it will work but it will be rich as heck all the time

I believe the mixture solenoid stays in the rich position if there is no signal to it. If so, I bet you won't even need the choke. It's gonna be like a Holley with a blown power valve. Just safety wire the choke flap open.

The computer carb won't work unless significantly modified---all the computer stuff taken out and replaced with non-computer components.

If the truck is only driven 12 miles per week, suggest physically closing the choke by hand when cold and opening it up after 30 seconds or so.
