Is there a vehicle meeting these requirements?
seats at least 5 and still has room for hockey and goalie bags
four or more doors small enough to park downtown easily will tow a fishing boat good on ice and in snow on the highway and in the city ideally: convertible in the summer time with a roll bar ?

Re: Is there a vehicle meeting these requirements?
A Jeep Wrangler 4 door with a 5.7L Hemi swap? That pretty much covers all the bases. Though you may not need the V8 swap depending how large/heavy your boat is.
http://jeepspeedshop.com/ A 4x4 Suburban fits the bill pretty well, except the convertible part. Maybe a couple of added sun roofs would suffice?

Re: Is there a vehicle meeting these requirements?
Yeah, I've spent too many hours thinking about how nice an old blazer woudl be in the summer and not towing.
When I asked a question last year about the Blazers some folks thought the wheel base was too short for highway driving in the winter where we have ice. My guess is the short wheelbase may also be relevant for towing, although I had in mind something relatively light. Looks like the wrangler has a 10" longer wheel base, but it looks like the first 4 door versions with the longer wheelbase came in 2007 which means they'll be expensive. My guess is that a suburban would be about as hard to park downtown as smokey is. I assume 4 x 4 means what the wheels can do rather than some kind of shortened rear passenger compartment.

Re: Is there a vehicle meeting these requirements?
Find a 4-door Tahoe from the '92 - '99 generation, remove the IFS 4WD stuff and replace with a solid axle. Better fuel injection, better interior, doors for everyone to get it and still has plenty of room for stuff.

Re: Is there a vehicle meeting these requirements?
I like the idea on the Tahoe as well. I have been kicking around buying one for a winter/camping vehicle for quite a while myself.

Re: Is there a vehicle meeting these requirements?
I've done both burb and now jimmys in the winter
both are great in 4X4 around here the jimmys are rare cause so many where used for plows(short turning radius) as the burb requires more space ,it stores/carries more a light trailer shouldn't be an issue, done a few smaller ones now

Re: Is there a vehicle meeting these requirements?
The 92-99 Tahoe/Yukon is a great idea! Didn't even cross my mind.

If you do consider the 92-99 Tahoe/Yukon go with a 96-99. The earlier ones had the TBI motor and it was a dog compared to the 96+ Vortec equipped trucks.

Re: Is there a vehicle meeting these requirements?
I think you want too many things. Blazer will be easier to park but worse with ice. Burb will fit more but harder to park and not convertible. What do you want more?

Re: Is there a vehicle meeting these requirements?
I hate to say it but a mini van would work best. The seats are removable if you need more room, it will tow just fine, good on fuel, easy to drive and park, heavy enough to drive well in snow, plenty of power, .......... I've had two of them over the years and they are the nicest vehicles for overall usage.... I towed two ATVs on a trailer, removed the seats and hauled all kinds of larger items, plowed through the WI winters with ease, got good fuel economy, it drove really well and you sat up higher for good visibility....... just sayin'

Re: Is there a vehicle meeting these requirements?
Yes, besides Smokey, and a 1960 Frontenac, we have a 2001 Toyota Sienna minivan. It is great for everything except I didn't think we could use it to tow.
I'm thinking of a fishing boat. Not a big one folks can sleep on, except while lines are in the water, just one they can fish from. Something to take 4 - 6 people fishing. Convertible is probably the lowest of the priorities, but it would be fun.

Re: Is there a vehicle meeting these requirements?
I think you'd be fine with a blazer as long as you had good tires and drove carefully when it came to winter. You wouldn't have 4 doors, but you could hop up and in with the top off in the summer (which is when you'd have people on the boat anyway). 4wd would make it even better in the snow. That is if you want a bit more of a style factor. Otherwise the Tahoe would be my suggestion as well.
