I want to believe... in NADA!
Hey everyone I just picked up a 67 SWB fleetside low mileage project so I went to the NADA website to see what my truck would be worth once I completed a frame off restoration. Well I want to believe them because it should be worth about $37K! So when I list it I'm starting out at $10K below book! That should get people interested in it! How much do you think it will hurt my value if I lower it, disk brake front and put in a 350 with a car 4 speed over the 6 with 3 on the tree?

I don't think it will decrease the value one bit. Any of those changes are bolt on and can easily be changed back to stock if someone wanted it just like the General made it. If you start chopping the roof and sectioning frames you limit your buyer to the custom guys. Good luck with the 67. Come see me when you need parts. You are about 5 miles away from me.

I agree that it won't hurt the value and if done like factory it may even increase the value. Just looking for what everyone else thinks about those tyes of mods/upgrades? Either way I doubt I will get $37k for it! I plan to build it with factory stuff. You're more like 15 miles away but I will have to stop by and check out your shop since truck building season has just started! How long have you been selling 67-72 stuff? I use to have my shop on hwy 12 in Waverly about 15 years ago in the red building that's Moy's body shop now.

Probably the easiest way to end up with a $37K truck is to spend about 90K.

You have that right. Racing is expensive. In the mid-nineties when I was dabbling in horse racing...
But seriously its just like a 'vette. The best way to restore a 'vette is to buy someone else's finished car. It saves time and a lot of money.

Well as everyone has already said, yes you can make $30,000 on any vehicle but if you figure every cent and labor on it you will have double that in it when done.
I have never bought a vehicle in my life time because of the resale value.

onl way to make money from reselling is to find those cars that people practically give away because it needs a fix that has a cheap part but lots of labor time....fuel pump head gaskets etc. and da-burb im glad i noticed your sig if i ever have enough money to actually do anything to my truck im gonna have to head out your way.

Their name contains what they know about vintage vehicles...NADA. I ignore their quotes on anything older*. They used to let vehicles drop off their radar as they aged and probably still should. There are far too many variables to put fixed numbers on a whole group. The closest they could come to being accurate would be to only deal with 100% original vehicles, As changes are made the field gets spread too wide and each thing done appeals to limited groups.
*Heck,ever try to use Kelly Blue Book or NADA when negotiating a late model purchase?I've heard salesmen say that's high high because of this or that's low because of that.

It all depends on the buyer and the mods made. I'm an originality buyer so any vehicle that has been cut on and other mods made that change the vehicle drastically I tend to pass on. Before making chages to a vehicle, especially if one buys to resell, think about the fact that what one person likes another may not. No two tastes are the same. I have found that by leaving the vehicles completely stock, do minor repairs to have it run good and look good is the best way to get the most out of them. As mentioned above- I have never bought a vehicle with resale in mind so I have made changes and modifications on them myself.

OK here are some pictures... the seller claims the 49K miles are original and he knew the original owner's family. The truck is very straight the only rust in the bed is the front floor too bad because it is dent free. The cab needs corners and rockers otherwise very good shape. the doors are solid no rust. I have a 67 SWB wood floor box and 67 -68 SWB frame so I'm building it into a SWB.

I think the most important thing to remember, is that if you start out close to stock, and don't sway much from that, your truck really shouldn't depreciate. It should only go up in value. There aren't any new cars or trucks I know of that can say that. Will you get 30k for it one day? Probably not, but you might get to a point where even of someone offered you that much out of the blue, you wouldn't take it

Do u have a factory tilt steering column in ur truck. If not I have 1 all restored like brand new from the off the assembly line PM me or email me if interested @ ProJunker38@gmail.com names Cody an the column is install, plug in an drive its that easy!!!
