Its all good brother, I got it all back together with the Fel-pro's out of that 98000 T set. We'll see what happens but I have a good feeling about it, just looking at them. I appreciate your coming on in here and helping me consider the options. Semper Fidelis.

Re: venting... Vortec intake gasket failure !!

DO NOT USE ANY PAPER STYLE GASKETS with Vortec heads..No matter what anybody says.. I have built a bunch of vortec head motors and have learned the hard way. Felpro 1255 are good to start a fire with. Nothing else. The best deal on gaskets is a GMPP gasket set. I can't find the part number. I called my GM parts guy but he hasn't called me back yet. I will post it as soon as I get it.

Check out Chevy Performance part # 19201171. Sells everywhere for around $60. Its just a few bucks more than just the intake gaskets.

For clarity, I'm not a marine, but a lot of my friends are. I fully support all veterans and consider them my brothers.

You can trust a marine with your money and your life, just dont trust him with your wife
Youve got the best, friends that are marines

Good luck with your intake gaskets....

Yep.

I'll add to that... "you can trust a Marine with your gaskets." lol.

I like the fel-pros from that set, they're steel which obviously means strong and not deformable, and they put a black rubber over the steel at the appropriate places. Plus they have little locator nubs that mate with those tiny holes in the head, for location purposes. I think they're in there to stay.

Truck runs better than it ever did. I probably had a leaking intake gasket from day 1 of the re-head job and it got progressively worse.

No more !!

Thanks for your thoughts.
