Would that be where a bolt goes in that holds up the fuel pump rod in place so when you remove the pump the rod stays in place so you can remove the pump and also when you replace it?????????

Re: can some tell me what this is for ?

Those holes were used for the front motor mounts on the early small blocks. Not used for anything on the newer blocks but I think they just kept them there for backwards compatibility.

Anyway, that one with the arrow in your pic is open into the fuel pump push rod area on a lot of blocks and will leak oil unless it's plugged. Use a short 3/8"-16 bolt with some thread sealer ... just make sure the bolt is short enough so it doesn't hit the fuel pump pushrod.

As a sidenote, that hole comes in helpful when replacing a fuel pump. You can stick a longer bolt in there (hand tight only) to hold the push rod from sliding down.

Two bolt hoses are for air pump bracket. Just put short bolt in like ray mcavoy said.

It is used as well to hold a fuel pump rod to install a pump. But it was as well used for the front motor mounts on the earlier models. Just get a short bolt and put some sealer on it
