Aren't there only two different crossmembers for the C10. The one that bolts to the bellhousing of a manual and an automatic crossmember that bolts to the tail of the trans?

I dealing with a local yard trying to locate one for my bro-in-law to convert from a 3sd. man. to a th350 short. Well the yard called and asked wether I had a th350 or th400 because they were different. I was under the impression that the crossmember was the same it just bolted to different holes in the frame.

HAVE I LOST MY MIND? Any help is appreciated.

I believe that there are differences in the cross members because of the emergency brake setups. I have never compared them that close. Now you have me curious and I will have to look.

I'm going to go out on a limb here ans state that any 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton th350 or th400 crossmember will work, just by moving it to the correct frame hole location.

I have seen th400 equipped trucks that have an extra bracket bolted to them. This bracket is like a wiring harness hold-down and the intermediate E-brake cable passes thru it. I presume it is required because the th400 location sits further back.

In short, I would't hesitate to purchase either style and use it interchangeably.

Where is a saw when you need it?

The two clips are the differences that I remember and that might change the number of the cross member. I have both cross members and I plan on looking at them tomorrow as I am not sure if there are other differences. I agree with you that one will work for the other.
