Re: crew cab short bed build

Welcome to the forum from Lafayette! There are a lot of trucks that have been setup as a crew cab short bed. However, I can't say I have ever seen a CCSB on a standarc cab short bed frame. That would be sweet for off roading, nice short wheelbase for tight turns.

Re: crew cab short bed build

are you extending the frame to make it like the truck above? i have see crew cabs on burb frames on soem off road rigs. the back of the cab would need wheel wells to sit on a short frame

Re: crew cab short bed build

here is a crew cab, cab on a burb frame which is a 129.5" wheel base. i believe a shortbed wheel base is 117.5" and longbed is 131.5"

i wonder why they didnt just use longbed frames for suburbans and make tehm 2" longer?

Re: crew cab short bed build

another Indiana boy. Welcome. I was thinking about your plan. and it seams quite ambitiousness. I have a reg cab short bed and a Crew cab I just shortened. I wanted to see how much bed you would actually have or should I say have to cut off the bed to make it work. Judgeing by where the crew cab would sit on the shortbed frame you will have some frame work to contend with. I took some side by side photos to compare.

Re: crew cab short bed build

From seeing someone do one....you'll lose most of your rear seating area/feet space because of the kick up in the frame. He eventually lengthened the frame behind the cab so the bed would look right, but the rear cab area was only good for throwing luggage into...not seating by anyone out of a car seat.

He wishes he would have extended his frame under the front seat area so it would have worked out for the rear seat. Sorry he no longer has the truck (Thanks to Katrina) or I would show some pictures.

Re: crew cab short bed build

Thats a good idea about the body lift so you can retain the full back seat. If you didn't do the lift, I suppose you could have found a K5 Blazer back seat. That should have cleared the wheel wells. Either way, can't wait to see the pictures of it!
