LMC 3 point seat belts - adjusting to work better?

My 78 K10 came with just lap belts, so I have no idea what the factory 3 points were like.

But I just bought these generic ones from LMC and I'm not so sure about them...

They seem made well, but..

-They are VERY sensitive when you pull them out, have to go very slow or it will lock up

- They don't rewind worth a crap. You have to feed it back in.

My question is - Are there ways to tweak these to work better? Or should I just return them and buy another brand that works better?

I bought a set of three-point belts from Seat Belt Planet and experienced the same problem with having to pull them out slowly. I called and asked about making some adjustments and was told that the Federal Govt. mandated the "spring tension."

I'm not sure I buy that because I don't havet that problem with the factory belts in my other cars. Once you get used to pulling slowly, it's no big deal.

Like said above, once you use them a while, you get used to them feeding slow, and having to feed them back in.

Seat Belt Planet belts are made in Oklahoma City, USA. The ones you find in the LMC catalog, Julianos Hot Rod Shop, and many others are made by Beam's belts. Seat Belt Planet is the retail outlet for Beam's.

I have them installed in an '82 stepper and after talking with Seat Belt Planet got exactly what I wanted as far as style, color, and number of belts and hardware. There are many options and they are very willing to make what you want.

Don't cheap out on safety.

Make sure they are installed correctly, the PO had them in my truck when I purchased it. After I did some research and talked to Beam I realized they were not installed with the correct mounting kit and not facing the proper direction for the belt to feed correctly.

Does anyone have pics of them installed correctly? Mine came with no installation instructions, and I didn't have belts in before to compare...so I just installed them the way that seemed right.

Sounds like that spring is made to cheap out on the inertia latch. The latch in my truck works great. If you go down this one road by my place to fast you'll find your A$$ touching the seat floor from being latched down haha
