Like new bed!
Got the inspiration from Mister B here on the forum. Scrubbed down the bed with a wire brush and CLR for hours, lol. Primed with rustoleum rusty metal primer, took my glovebox door to the Depot and had them match me a gallon of paint, and got to work. This is only the first coat but figured I'd post up some pics. Paint matches almost perfectly, I'm happy with it.

Re: Like new bed!
Dude! Nicely done!
Even just the primer looks professional. Almost like a spray on bedliner. See, now you can use your bed without getting whatever you put in it, covered in rust stains. And, if it gets scratched, just touch it up with leftover paint sometime Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Like new bed!
Dude, that weed eater hanging out your door drove me nuts trying to figure out what it was! LOL. Bed looks really good. You say home depot matched the color for you? Again, great job on the bed.

Re: Like new bed!
Yeah Homedpot or most any local auto paint store can mix up custom colors for you all you need is about a 2" square of the color your after, they scan it and the computer will mix up the correct color.
I think he used Rustolem paint or thats what others have used. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Like new bed!
Yep I took it to home depot and they matched it for me. I used Behr oil based semi-gloss enamel.

Re: Like new bed!
Looks good. I did the same thing on my 68 but I used Valspar enamel and got Lowes to match the paint on mine. The guy that matched it up came up with a perfect match. I used it on the inside of the bed but not on the floor. I used black Rustoleum for that.
It's been about 5-6 years ago so I need to redo it.
