Rochestor 1bbl gaskets leaking

I just installed a new Rochestor 1bbl carb on my 292 - it is leaking at the gasket between carb and manifold and minor leak at float bowl gasket - Is there rule a thumb for tightening the carb bolts???? - Any help appreciated.

Is the leak at the float bowl gasket actually gasoline leaking out? If so, and it is a new carb, like from an auto-supply store, I'd return it--that indicates the floats are likely too high, would require disassembly to repair/adjust, and probably void your warranty.

It is possible that the base-gasket leak, if fuel and not a vacuum leak, is exacerbated by the upper leak, if not outright caused by it. I'd think after mixture gets that low, it should be atomized and in an almost non-liquid form.

Good luck with your decision(s).

It could also be leaking from float bowl gasket because these carbs are notouris for warping there

I called advance auto, and I’m not sure if they just didn’t know or what but they kept trying to tell me that the carb kit for mine was the Harley Davison carb kit...
Any chance you have the name of the company or the part number for that kit?
