Re: how many MPG do you get?
Round trip to work and back is right at 15 miles. About 10 bucks worth of fuel. Speedo not working. So I would say around 6-7. 350/350 steep rear end gears lumpy cam and a little burn out entering and leaving the parking garage at work. My 84 4x4 gets better mileage in 4 wd. But the 66 does better doughnuts!

Re: how many MPG do you get?
Only one of my previous trucks that I actually checked was the 64 I had 2yrs ago, maybe 3...lol
Stock 80s 305 V8, granny 4spd, 3.08 rear with near 30" tall tires it would do 17mpg on highway all day. Never checked it around town.

Re: how many MPG do you get?
Anyone on here able to convert any of these US Gallon MPG figures to km/liter or even miles per liter ?
With the difference between a US gallon and Imperial gallon it is a bit awkward for me to convert. I grew up with km/liter. Thanks. |

Re: how many MPG do you get?
Dang... I thought I was getting bad mileage!
I don't know what I get around town, but on the highway I get between 15-18mpg, depending on how fast I'm driving. If I'm doing 60mph, it's 18, if I'm doing 75/80mph, it's 15 a little over 15.5mpg. I almost always honk along at 75/80 mph in the left lane. 290-horse crate 350, Edelbrock 4bbl on a C3B intake, and restrictive 2-inch Ram's horns though tired glass-packs. That was also with a very, very worn-out HEI distributor. Trans is a 4spd manual overdrive with .73:1 final, and 3.42 gears in the Dana 44. 275/35/15 tires--they're kinda tall. I think I could do better if I'd tune the ignition, carb DEFINITELY needs a tune, PCV valve has 55,000 miles on it, 2.5-inch rams horn manifolds and an intake that isn't 50 year old technology. I'm thinking real hard about an LS swap... probably a 5.3, keeping the OD. The truck is my daily driver, and I've had it through 20 states, including from Atlanta to northern Pennsylvania this year, and northern Illinois and Austin, TX last year. -Brad

Re: how many MPG do you get?
google conversion is the best, I use it all the time, saves me a ton of reference material.
I get about 21 right now, should go up once the leaky brake booster is replaced and the timing is more accurate. 65 with a 2.2L EFI 4 cyl 5 spd and 3:73 (not a typo)

Re: how many MPG do you get?
Thanks for the reminder guys.
I found this site is simple, with various permutations available. http://www.onlineconversion.com/fuel_consumption.htm An optimistic 15 US MPG converts to about 6.4km/l |

Re: how many MPG do you get?
I get 18 consistently using 350/q-jet/700R4, 3.42 rear gears. 350 is pretty much stock, small 260 comp cam, Edelbrock intake, hooker headers.
