headers,what type for a 350 in a 68 chev.?

Hey guys, i'm putting a 350 into my 68 and I haven't ever owned one before, so i was wondering what's a good set of headers i can put on it. I was thinking of block huggers, but i was wondering if there is a good brand, possibly a part number or summit number or jegs number, if any of you have a setup that works good maybe even some pics, let me know, thanks alot, nate

Cobalt turned me on to these, Hooker Super Comps, part# HOK-2452-1. They fit awsome!! Almost forgot, I got them from Summit Racing.

These are the Summit brand Jet-Hot coated headers. When I unboxed them, they were actually DynoMax brand headers. It was a pleasant suprise. The downside is the collectors hang low underneath the truck. Terrible for one lowered a lot.

That said, I have always run Hooker Comp headers, not the Super Comp ones. Never had a complaint at all and they're lots cheaper than the Super Comp models.

Before you buy headers, verify what position your 350 is mounted in. If it is in the factory 6 cyl position, I think that some of the headers will not fit properly without modification, because they will run into the firewall, or steering linkage or something like that. If it is in the factory V8 position you should be fine.

Someone correct me if I am talking out of my ass here. :p But this is what I read.

Just a heads up.

Once again....Sanderson....nothing better! They have block huggers that are perfect for a low rider, and have the best flange in the business.

I would decode your VIN and see if the truck was a 6cyl or 8 cyl from the factory. If it was a 6 cyl, and has been converted to an 8, I would assume that it would still be in the 6cyl position. ( I think only a few people would bother changing the mount positions and getting the longer driveshaft etc.) If it is in the 6 cyl position, it will be sitting close to the firewall. Maybe someone else can elaborate on this, or supply a pic, as my 68 still has the original 250 in it right now.

they've been on the truck three years. But, the truck was parked outside with the hood off and the whole engine exposed for a year.

hey randy do those hooker super comps hang below the frame, it's hard to tell in the pic because it looks like it's at an upward angle.

Can't you use 3/4 lenght Chevelle headers on trucks for better ground clearance?

Those are the ones. They are short, so clearance is not an issue. Their flange design has the best seal in the industry. They cost more, but are worth it.

Thoughs are Sandersons CC3. They can be used in the stock V8 postion. I bought a set for my 69 and fit real well. A bit pricy but you dont have to use gaskets either.
