Btw, I just bought this truck and can not find the color on any website. It is copper and not really an orange color. I hope to keep the exterior original unless this is a special color that I can't get. It has a 350, a K&B shift kit and 350 turbo transmission. I am in the process in putting in a Holley carburetor. Thanks, Dnrice

Welcome to the board!

The color is a GM number 522 copper poly / medium bronze used for number of years. If the truck is a factory Two-Tone it would be listed as 551, 582 or 462 on the SPID inside the glove box.

The Ditzler code is 2202

Dnrice, Check the option sheet (SPID) on the backside of your glovebox door for the paint code. Here are the 71 paint chips. Looks like paint code 522

I found another PPG sheet for 1970.

My suburban is listed paint as 528 white/med bronze/wht

I truely believe it is the 522 color but a little leary since code is 528. Its tie to buy paint for 6-lug rallys to match body color.

522 copper poly... Solid
551 is 521 white/522 copper poly... Conventional Two-Tone
582 is 521 white/522 copper poly/521 white... Special Two-Tone
462 is 521 white/522 copper poly/521 white/522 copper poly... Deluxe Two-Tone

Last edited by SS Tim; 12-28-2012 at 01:55 AM. Reason: might as well include all the 522 codes

Thanks guys. Been working on body work. It is fun, meditative, tedious and frustrating. Now I know why bodywork is so expensive.
